That was a great Catch!

Ok I think we all know this video is fake. You have to admit though that the editing is very good. These guys might well be in film school and they are just playing around in their spare time. In any case the thought that someone could catch sunglasses on their face is funny and it's got over a quarter of a million views in just two days time. There are gads of people on here doing follow ups to this video, trying to prove it's a fake and telling us how they did it. I wonder that people don't have anything better to do with their time than work on 'busting' these guys? A friend sent it to me or I would never have watched it myself. Well here it is for all of you to see who view this page, which that's not very many. Even though it's all smoke and mirrors, it made me laugh:

Frost on the Pumpkin [or should I say tulips]?

Well everyone has gone and done it, so to speak. Many people got the spring fever to set out plants and plant their containers, well knowing it was too early. Guess what, it's going to happen! The frost is coming so everything is going to get it and get it hard by the looks of things.
There goes the apple crop for this year. Our's have bloomed out pretty enough to think about them making fruit in a few months, just as if it were mid-May. I'm afraid getting nipped is the only thing in their future.
Woe to those who set out that garden... the frost queen is coming! Of all the things I can't save, there is one thing that I will try to save. That is the columbine here at the front step. I have a bucket I'm putting over it each night. For the next four days it's going to be my personal mission to save this one flower that gives me joy when i leave my home each day in the spring and I see it's spikey little behind of lavender waving to me in the breeze. So best of luck to me on that account.
And here I will post a photo of my bleeding heart which I can only see dieing in the next night so I took several photos of it for memory and wallpaper purposes.

Never have I seen Richard stand up and give the business to Hyacinth till I caught this clip on You Tube. It goes on painfully long and you wonder if he's going to say or do anything and then he just flat tells her:

On Monday I got a chance to see Jane Austen's Persuasion [BBC 1995] over at a friend's house. We throughly enjoyed it!! Who knew that this little gem would be so romantic? I knew it was one I hadn't seen yet so I made a date with a girlfriend for movie day... it rained the entire day, what could be nicer than to sit under a quilt and pull out the Jane Austen flick. I knew that Ciaran Hinds was the lead man. I had seen him in several things and lately Phantom of the Opera as one of the theater owners. He's getting older as we all are, but there was something in that Persuasion performance that will forever freeze him in time as Capt. Wentworth... the man that went off jilted and never loved again till he could have his beloved Ann Elliott. There is a moment when he takes her hand in his hand, his 'gloved hand' I might add, and the thumb squeeze is enough to bring you up out of your seat!! I never viewed this guy as sexy but this was definately doing it for me... wowow. Well as you would know, a trip to You Tube was in order and the fan vids are excellant over there at YT... There's just something about an Austen Man that makes your blood run hot!!! Just like Cpt. Wentworth here, you may not be hot looking but when your put in a frilly shirt, drink a cup of tea, or use manners.... look out... your going to be smokin' at the end of a two hour movie! Check out this look in the rain.... hardline profile... the Napoleon style hat.... the determinded look on his face? He's came to Bath for one reason and one reason only... to find Ann! She see's him walking outside the shop and she's instantly gotten butterflies. And what of letter writing??? Yes, the all important letter where love is declared in writing. And with the words of Cpt. Wentworth on paper Ann comes to find that he adores her and has for years since she first turned him down eight years before because she listened to some idiot woman that told her he was beneath them and had no money. Now he is rich from the war and is a catch for any girl... but will Ann be able to return to the love they had?

Oh yah.... thank goodness for second chances because he tries again and this time she only listens to her heart and accepts him for the solid man that he is and before you know it they are snogging right out on the street!! How sweet is that? This guy totally wants her and she totally wants him back. Ann never hides how she feels about the Cpt. you can read her like a book. Hey that's sort of a pun, because you can totally read it! Pick up Persuasion at the library sometime and enjoy a timeless love story. How do I know it's timeless... because they keep making it on stage and screen, yup, get ready Persuasion is coming again to BBC televisions in the fall of 2007...

Ice, pretty, Ice...

All this weekend I told myself how truly lucky I am. My family and I were out of harms way by just miles of the horrible ice storm that shut down so much of a neighboring city of thousands. They are even having shortages of gas and staples such as bread are scarce.

We started preparing for the storm on Friday. We already had 5 gal. of gas in the can from the last ice storm threat of early Dec. but I purchased another 5 gal. can at Wal-Mart and filled it up Friday along with the tank on the car and we rented several movies to hold us over, as long as we had the power to watch them that is. We just stayed inside and continued to hold our breath that the power would hold. On Sunday night we had a slight worry when we had some flickers about 5-6pm but it never did go off. We had power the entire time! We watched with sadness as the stories came in of those in the city looking for places to stay and going to the shelters and then having to be turned away because they were full or leaving because the power at the shelter was also out.... the falling limbs.... pets that could not be cared for... the list just goes on.

I'm very very thankful that my sweetie is an electrician. He has our home set up to where all we have to do it throw a main switch and plug in the gas generator we have [purchased from Lowe’s somewhere around 2003] on that particular box we can run the freezer, fridge, microwave, well pump and gas furnace. We never did have to use it, but it would have been a God send to have the ability to take a shower, keep our milk and freezer stuffs from thawing and to just open and heat a can of soup in the microwave for a hot meal.... I could cook a whole meal in the microwave if I had to.

By about Sunday afternoon we were all a little stir crazy. We called in a pizza order from Dominos and drove in to get it. We also got some Kleenex in town and some splenda packets to keep the coffee sweet and our noses wiped. We didn't load the wood furnace down very much out of fear the power would go out and it would burn up the controls on the wood furnace, but we kept it warmer than most people do when heating with gas, it stayed around 71 degrees in here most of the weekend. We played board games and watched movies and more times than often we did tell ourselves that others were going through some terrible times without the wonderful benefits we were having.

The kids went on to school but since they are the first ones on the bus, it is hard to be ready for school and then have them cancel when your sitting there wrapped in a muffler and mittens ready for pick up... we've even been sitting at the end of the driveway waiting when the annoucement finally makes it to the radio..... Bugger! So I let them sleep in and I said, don't worry I'll drive you.

It's bitter cold out this a.m. but the ice was oh so picturesque. Can I actually say that when so many people are having troubles because of the nasty stuff? I guess I just did, it was beautiful. So.... thankful for my husband who cares for his family, thankful for a garage so I don't have to scrape ice, thankful for a home with buried utilities, thankful that we all get along under one roof.

d. Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest [what gives it didn't end, I have to wait till May?]
3. husband rode the range with Louie LaMour and devoured two westerns
4. actually walked on the treadmill both Sat. and Sun.
5. burned candles and made cookies [ate cookies, which defeated #4]
6. enjoyed football playoff game between Ravens and Patriots
7. mourned over cancelled Bowling Party of Sunday night but happy to know it's rescheduled for next Sunday.

I hope everyone continues to think ahead to be prepared and save him or herself some worry if they can to keep things on hand to eat and drink.
